Comparing Po'o-uli Prints

PreviousNext

Beneath the horizontal line are the following:

Marian's bird has a brown breast, Patrick Ching's a white breast. A search of internet photos of the Po'o-uli reveals both.

Marian's bird has a lot of detail and contrast on the wing; The internet photos seem to support the blander wing depicted by Patrick. And he did paint from sketches and observations made in the wild at a Po'o-uli nesting site.

As always when comparing Marian's and Patrick's work, Marian has more emphasis on the bird, Patrick more emphasis on the bird in its environment.

Two truly beautiful prints. I love the original watercolor by Marian; of the prints by Patrick that I own, this is my favorite.
