The hawk is a red shouldered hawk photographed in Florida. The quilt, however, is deceptive. Each patch of color was cropped from a photo of a bird (I used about ten in all). I used the png format (instead of jpg, psd or tif) because png supports transparency, which I needed to do the triangles.
