Apapane - Fringillidae Hematione sanguinea

From the Hawaii State website: Apapane are "found on all main islands, primarily in native forest. Common on Hawai`i, Maui, and Kaua`i, uncommon on O`ahu, rare on Lana`i."

Marian Berger's paintings of Apapane can be found on my website at: 1985 Lithographs, 1990 Lithographs, 2010 Giclees, Living Endemic, Odds and Ends, and the Marion Collection. Painted often by Marian, I think the Apapane is a beautiful bird.
