Common Amakihi - Fringillidae Hemignathus virens

From various websites and handbooks: Amakihi exist on Kauai, Hawaii (The Big Island), Oahu and Maui as four distinct subspecies, and are found on all of the main islands of Hawaii. The closely related greater amakihi is most likely extinct, last seen in the early 1900's.

Marian Berger's paintings of the Common Amakihi can be found on my website at: 2010 Giclees, and Living Endemic.
