In addition to being an excellent guide, Ruben was fun for us to have as company. He is also of 100% Mayan descent, but obviously his children will not be! He said love crossed the boundaries. Gina worked as a chef's assistant at the Chan Chich Lodge (the food was wonderful). Their children were friendly and very respectful. In fact, people in Belize (outside of Belize City) remind me of when I was growing up in the 1940's.
