Comparing Akialoa'ua Prints
PreviousNext
Beneath the horizontal line are:
- Akiapola'au in Koa #3, a lithograph by Marian Berger.
- Akiapola'au in Koa #1, a Giclee by Marian Berger.
- Akiapola'aua Giclee by Marian Berger (from the LEBH serties).
- Hemignathus munroi (aka Akiapola'au), a print by Frederick Frohawk.
- Akiapola'au #7, a photograph by Jack Jeffrey.
Just a few observations:
- The Frowhawk print is the only one to show the same brownish back seen in Jack Jeffrey's photo.
- The beak lengths vary a bit, with Frohawk showing the longest. The rest of the prints seem to match the photo quite closely.
- Marian's 1985 lithograph and 2010 Giclee are greener than the photo shows, while her 2010 LEBH Giclee captures the yellows closer to the photo.
