Robert lived from February 15, 1930, to December 23, 2008. He dedicated much of his life to sharing the beauty of the world around him with others. Since Robert lived most of his life in Hawaii, his work includes many native Hawaiian birds and flora. He stated that his "paintings are merely a reflection of God's creations." In my opinion, like God's creations, Roberts work is very beautiful.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Robert always had an affinity to Hawaii's native flora and fauna. He received formal art training at The Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, California. After a successful career in advertising/design Robert pursued his dream of becoming a fine art painter. His mastery of the gouache medium, and his love of nature guided him towards producing his paintings. Robert's work is represented in art collections worldwide, private and corporate
To the right is a photograph of Robert painting Tapestry - 'Akohekohe. An image of my print of this painting is included in this section of my website.

An aside: gouache is a form of translucent to opaque water color; it is pronounced "gwash."
