Pueo - Strigidae Asio flammeus sandwichensis

From CoffeeTimes.com: "There are no statistics on the pueo's population numbers. They are present on all the islands, but they are definitely in decline on Oahu, where urban development makes it impossible for the shy, brown bird to find the green, solitude it craves. Considered endangered on Oahu, pueo has become a candidate for threatened status throughout the island chain."

Below is a photo I took in Montana of the mainland short eared owl. Quite frankly, I see very little difference. Perhaps some internal organs differ? ;-)
