Snowy Plover - Charadriidae Charadrius alecandrinus

Photographed on Sanibel Island. Down on my stomach for this shot! The male digs a shallow depression in the sand, into which the female lays about three eggs. The female then departs, looking for another mate, while the male incubates and briefly rears the very precocial chicks.
